Why participate in the DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin German program for children and adolescents?

The German program for children and adolescents offered by DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin is a program designed for its participants to enjoy the summer while discovering the German language and culture. Due to its long history and multiple accreditations, the DID Deutsch-Institut is a reliable school with decades of experience teaching the German language to students from all over the world. In the particular case of its courses for children and adolescents, it stands out because it has campuses in several destroyed cities throughout Germany with programs specially designed according to the age and preferences of its participants.

At his school in Berlin DID Deutsch-Institut has two programs that focus on improving the language of its participants while taking advantage of the many free time options offered by a city like Berlin. Both programs are designed for two types of students. The Berlin-Mitte program is ideal for students who prefer to spend more time with their colleagues and new friends. It is a typical summer camp in which students live in a residence and receive classes in the same building. The Potsdam program is for those who prefer to experience German culture more intensely, in it its students live in a host family and receive classes in the city of Potsdam, it is an opportunity to live in a smaller city, but at the same time dynamic, in a place full of history, with green spaces and close to Berlin.

What is included in the German program for children and teenagers at DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin?

Students participating in the DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin program for children and adolescents will receive:

  • Placement test level

  • German course of 20 or 24 lessons per week

  • Teaching materials

  • Attendance end level certificate

  • Accommodation in residence or family depending on the program with three meals

  • Free time activities during the week

  • Excursions during the weekend

  • Card for local public transport

  • Supervision for 24 hours a day

  • 24 hour emergency phone

Does not include: Airline tickets to and from Berlin and transportation to and from the airport.

How old are the students participating in this program?

The Berlin-Mitte summer camp welcomes students from 14 to 17 years old. The Potsdam program has students from 12 to 16 years old.

Where are the classes held and the students housed?

The two German programs for children and teenagers at the DID Deutsch-Institut in Berlin work differently.

In the case of the Berlin-Mitte summer camp, the students stay and receive their classes in the same building. The rooms are shared and can have 2 or 4 beds and each room has a shower and a private toilet. The rooms are shared with students of the program who have the same gender and there are school staff in the residence 24 hours a day who support the students and supervise that everything is well.

In the German program for children and adolescents in Potsdam, students stay with a local family in a double room to share with another student of the program who has the same gender. German classes are received at a venue located in the city of Potsdam. Students will have to transport themselves every day to go to class and for this they will receive a local transport card and, of course, their host family will explain how to get there.

When does the DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin program for children and adolescents take place?

This school offers programs for children and adolescents each year during the summer. You can participate in the Berlin-Mitte summer camp for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 9. The start dates vary from year to year, at the top of this page you will find the exact dates of this year.

For its part, the Potsdam program can be taken for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 4. Above you will also find the start dates for this year.

What kind of leisure activities do children and adolescents during their free time?

Of course, both DID Deutsch-Institut Berlin programs include a program of free time activities for their students. The number of activities varies depending on the program the student chooses.

In the case of the Berlin Mitte camp every day its students have recreational, social, sports and/or cultural activities and during the weekend they participate in excursions.

In the case of the Potsdam program for children and adolescents, students have 4 activities per week (Monday to Thursday) and one excursion on the weekend (Saturdays). Therefore Fridays and Sundays are days off for students. The activities to be carried out are varied and can be cultural, social, sports or recreational.

----------------------------------------
TIP: The price of the pick-up service is often very high because a driver has to pick you up, wait for you and finally take you to the school or accommodation. For this reason, I recommend you to compare this fare to the public transport of the city.

The school offers a shuttle service from the airport or train station to the accommodation which costs 95 EUR for adult students. If you arrive before 08h00 or after 20h00, you must pay an additional supplement. For students who participate in a Junior Program, the value of this service is: - Airport: 75 EUR (one way) - Train station: 50 EUR (one way) * Arrival (Sunday) / departure (Saturday) between 08h00 and 20h00. - Surcharge for arrival outside these hours: 35 EUR. - Surcharge for the service of unaccompanied minors: 35 EUR.
